In hot summer, improving efficiency in cars starts from reducing the working temperature of the engine.
Water/Methanol Injection in the intake manifold is commonly used at the WRC Racing (World Cross Country Championship). For many years, this system has been limited to the scope of racing or competitive modification. Nowadays, the manufactures directly introduce the water injection system into commercial vehicles and are equipped with a water-cooled engine system, which explains that the principle of the water injection system is gradually getting popular and widely accepted.
⚠Cooling and improving efficiency
In fact, the concept of Water/Methanol Injection is very simple. The liquid mixed with water and methanol will be directly sucked into the combustion chamber through the atomization of the injector nozzle, thereby reducing the temperature of the intake air. This is because the heat required for vaporization of methanol molecules is higher than that of gasoline, and the cooling of methanol in the same environment. The efficiency is far greater than that of gasoline. Therefore, when the injector sprays the atomized water/methanol into the combustion chamber, it can take high temperatures and effectively reduce the cylinder temperature, and the engine output efficiency will naturally increase.
⚠Reduction in fuel consumption and removal of carbon deposits
About 20% of the fuel enters the combustion chamber for cooling. The gasoline is consumed by the high temperature of the combustion chamber before the spark plug is fired, so the atomized water/methanol can provide, making the fuel more efficient. It can also reduce the engine knock to increase the smoothness of the operation, while water/methanol injection can save fuel consumption, and with the help of water/methanol molecules, it can effectively remove carbon deposits inside the combustion chamber.
⚠What is the main ratio of Water to Methanol?
Although it is called a Water/Methanol Injection system, some people prefer to spray pure water or pure methanol.
